Punggol will be the first eco-town in Singapore with a soon-to-be launched green makeover. When underway, it will serve as a testbed for innovative eco technologies that, if successful, will be launched in other (especially older) housing estates across Singapore. The government will work with the private sector to develop common green areas, a well-integrated transport network, accessible amenities and scenic landscaping.
