3-Monkeys Café
American, Asian, Mexican, Italian. 267 Holland Ave., 6469-1338.
It’s monkey business all over again as 3-Monkeys Café opens its third outlet. Swing on down to this jungle-themed restaurant that serves up a zany mish-mash of cuisines. Staff are togged out in sexy animal print outfits, and the chow is simple and unpretentious. Try the very addictive Mango Banana Blend ($7.50), which is great for the sweltering heat. Good mains to try include the tasty garlic prawns sizzler ($33), the very local nasi goreng sambal udang ($15.90) and the flavorful chicken fajitas ($28.90). Open daily 11am-6am.
Heaven’s Loft
American, French, Desserts. #08-01/02 Orchard Central, 181 Orchard Rd., 6884-9505.
Check out Heaven’s Loft—brought to you by The Happy People (Ben & Jerry’s). This “chic-casual dessert dining and haven” offers high-quality American-French chow, loads of innovative desserts, tons of floor space (6,000 square feet to be exact) and a gorgeous view. The décor’s all cool “LA meets Art Noveau” too. Try the Fourplay Platter ($20 for four desserts; instead of the normal price of $7 for one), and tempting dishes like the terrine of foie gras ($25.90). Open Mon-Fri 9am-1am; Sat-Sun 9am-3am.
