L’Entrepot Bistrot
French. #01-02 Blk. E Clarke Quay, River Valley Rd., 6337-5585.
The good people at Esmirada have opened the only French bistrot by the Singapore River. Meaning “warehouse” in French, this less than two-month-old cozy restaurant serves regional French classics amid a breezy locale. No hoity-toity, phony stuff here—expect tasty, wholesome and robust French food. A hors d’oeuvre like the poached egg ($12) will start your meal nicely, while heartwarming fare like the French onion soup ($12) and lobster bisque ($15) will have you primed for more. The mains are pretty filling, so take your pick from the melt-in-the-mouth chicken basquaise ($25), tender lamb shank ($28) or flavorful beef bourguignon ($28). A lovely crepes Suzette will make the perfect sweet ending to a hearty meal. Open Sun-Tue noon-2pm, 6-11pm; Wed-Thu noon-2pm, 6-10:30m; Fri-Sat noon-2pm, 6-11:30pm.
