Issue #501: Reclaim Your Lunch

Mr. Know-It-All

Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
Since the recession started, all I do nowadays is stay at home, cook and eat. Food is the essence of life! Thank God I did that though—look at what happened in the Geylang Serai hawker center. I am by no means a very good cook but who cares since I eat my own food. I find cooking liberating as it speaks of life’s fundamental truths and routines. But now my fridge has died on me and I am sitting in a pool of dirty water with the stench of rotting fish and cabbage around me; unable to cook—at all. Help!—Fridge It

Dear Fridge It,
Despite your best intentions, I have a sneaking suspicion that whatever you whip up by yourself may not really be fit for human consumption. You do sound psychotic—like a crazed cook or something. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt and I am here to assist, so to get back into “life’s fundamental truths and routines,” swing by Teck Chang Air Conditioner & Refrigerator Service (#02-91 Blk. 9010 Tampines St. 93, 6260-2168), or Newton Airconditioning & Refrigeration Service (#01-00, 901 Bukit Timah Rd., 6468-2151). These guys repair and clean air conditioning equipment and systems, as well as fridges, so you’d be able to get all that stench outta your nostrils and perhaps your mental state back in order.
