This deli/café has been serving a wide array of home style European and American for the past year and a half, and is most well known for its casual and relaxed setting that is lapped up families and expatriates who stay around the Robertson vicinity. But for those who are not quite familiar with epicurious, let it be known that the reasonably priced dishes here are actually pretty good, set amid a charming, almost kopitiam-like setting, featuring rustic rattan tables and chairs and old-school plates and cutleries. We haven’t been back in a while, so we were pretty happy to find that the food is still good. Our starter of wagyu beef carpaccio with trufle oil, parmesan and rocket salad ($12.50) is as good as some of the best ones out there, and is probably more affordable too. While our mains of herb roasted half chicken with mushroom, potatoes and grainy mustard sauce ($21) and angel hair pasta with minced pork, shitake mushroom and sake ($14) are nothing to shout about, they are all decent meals that won’t break the bank. We are particularly happy with the angel hair pasta, as its minced pork and slight tinge of sake worked particularly well. We ended our meal with the warm chocolate brownie ($6) which was pretty ordinary. But rest assured, we’d be back to try some of the other dishes here after a long absence. There’s more to be had.
